Testimonial for Lindsay John - Life Coach
I want to share a very good experience that I had recently. I believe so strongly in the potential it has for change, that I feel I would like you all to give it a try. I also believe that it is necessary to be open and flexible for it to be of benefit, but if you are, I am sure that you will not regret it. When I speak of 'giving it a try', I mean for you to go to a life- coach for an introductory session. If after the introduction you feel that it is not for you, or just not at this moment in time, you just let it go :) .
I will explain to you how I got to know about this, so that you know where I am coming from. Here it is:
I used to read about coaches and had always the idea that they were speaking about people that help people who are famous in sports and had the money to pay somebody to 'coach' him/her thorough his/her sports career. Only later did I start hearing 'this word' (coaching/life coaching) more often, and then it related to other sorts of prominent people (not just sportsmen or women, but all kinds of successful individuals) having coaches. To me that was all too fancy and it did not get much of my attention because; I am neither prominent, nor famous :-). Now, I know differently (not that I am famous though:)). I have now been able to have a life-coach all to myself :) We had 13 weeks (once a week) sessions and it has been an incredible journey. Not only have I reached the goal that I set at the beginning of my coaching (to have clarity relating my vocation), but I am feeling as if I can now reach whatever goal I set myself to reach.
I started my coaching feeling very stuck. I knew I was not using my full potential, but I did not know how to do that. I was in a rut and thought that this is just the way life is and one has to accept its limitations. I did not realize that most of those limitations were self imposed. I was soooo surprised to find out where my self-imposed barriers were (surprised because most were very good hidden in my unconscious). Before recognizing this, I would have told anybody that I had worked on my beliefs, etc, and that I knew where my limitations were (I thought so....seeing that I have a BA with a major in Psychology and have done other courses that work on this kind of issues), BUT...I was wrong.... there were still things that were blocking me from achieving what I felt in my heart, I wanted in life.
I now believe that coaching is a very good investment. Would not, most of us, want a skilled person, all to ourselves for 1:30n hours every week, that walks with us; motivates us, and guides us in finding those barriers that keep us stuck in important areas of our lives? A person that will hold as accountable (not been accountable is often what keeps us doing the same, again and again, even though we are not happy with the results)?
I promise (for those that do not like psychologists and that kind of thing :) that it is not like psychological therapy and dwelling in the past, although you will come to recognize how your barriers were developed and will , with this knowledge, be able to bring them down. Wanna try???
